How Data Networking Solutions Across Multi Location Businesses Improve Your Customer Service and Employee Productivity

Data Networking is key to operational efficiency. Businesses which fully integrate their data services between locations

  • save money with improved customer service – instant access to all customer information regardless of location
  • improved employee productivity as employees have access to all information regardless of location.

A well designed data network also provides speed efficient Internet service across the enterprise and leverages bandwidth to provide optimal efficiency both in speed and cost.

Data Networking Experts at the OBJ group help your business achieve these efficiencies by designing an integrated data networking solution customized to your exact locations and your exact needs.

An efficient integrated data network takes into account four key factors

1. Distance between offices and available networking facilities

Your businesses location determines the optimum data and voice networking configuration. Many companies have locations in major metro locations offering many choices…

But they also have one or two locations in more rural locations which then limit the networking choices offered by the carriers.

What now?

No problem. The OBJ Group networking experts deal with this situation every day – we know the carriers serving both metro and rural areas and leverage those carriers to find the one (or more than one) offering the best service for your business locations.

2. Speed requirements

Determining the amount of bandwidth necessary to efficiently run your network is a key component to develop the optimum network for your organization. Numbers of employees at each location, file sizes accessed, upload/download requirements, are all critical to the overall determination of speed. Speed requirements are effected by the network architecture as fully meshed networks often lower the speed requirements of each link on the network over hub and spoke designs.

Internet access that is centralized and then distributed over the data network increases demands for bandwidth where a distributed Internet architecture reduces bandwidth requirements between locations. At the OBJ Group our networking experts know how to design the optimum network to address the speed requirements for the information you are accessing and sharing.

3. Designing cost and technology-effective data networking solutions

Putting together the best network for your business requires analysis of not only the technology available at each site, but the cost to bring that technology to the site. MPLS is a terrific data networking platform. However, it is usually not the most cost effective network transport for locations that are located in the same city.

MPLS can also be costly in more rural areas, though you can combine into an Integrated T1 and provide local lines for the rural location along with MPLS connectivity for data networking. Having a networking expert that knows the pricing, knows what carriers are available, and knows how to combine services in a cost effective manner can save 10 to 50 percent in total networking cost.

4. Prioritization (Not all data is created equally…)

Customer information is typically critical to most businesses, as is credit card processing information and other business critical data. At the same time if there is a slight delay in how long it takes for an email to arrive it will go totally unnoticed in the organization.

Prioritizing data is key to maximizing the data bandwidth of any organization. While this is often done on site with the local routers, more and more it is a class of service (CoS) and quality of service (QoS) in the data network. At the OBJ Group we work with our clients to identify critical areas of their data communications and design networks that make prioritization a key factor.

While it would be nice to say MPLS, or Ethernet, or Private Line, etc. is always the best platform for data communications networks the reality is each business is unique. The data and computer systems involved, the physical locations and number of employees at each location, the services that the carriers offer in each area, and of course the costs involved.

While some networks we design utilize a single technology (such as MPLS) – most networks we design utilize multiple technologies to leverage what is available from the carriers and what is cost efficient.
