Efficient Voice Networking Makes Multi Location Businesses Communicate Like they were all in the same building

Voice Networking is a key to operational efficiency. Businesses that fully integrate their voice services between locations save money by providing improved customer service, no need for a customer to ever hang up and call another location, and improved employee productivity as employees can seamlessly communicate without going through operators or utilizing trunks and long distance services.

Our Data and Voice Networking Experts at the OBJ group will help your business achieve these efficiencies by designing an integrated voice networking solution customized to your exact locations and your exact needs.

An efficient integrated voice network takes into account four key factors

1. The type of telephone system(s) you are utilizing. Different telephone systems offer different options for voice networking connectivity. Many legacy systems require point to point T1’s while newer VoIP systems prefer MPLS technology to efficiently route calls. Centralized PBX’s utilize hub and spoke type networks where IP based systems can leverage fully meshed networks for increased efficiency and reduced costs.

Our Networking experts work within your equipment parameters to create the most efficient voice network design possible.

2. Distance between offices and available networking facilities. Where your businesses are located is key to determining the optimum data and voice networking configuration. Many companies have locations in major metro locations that offer lots of choices – BUT – they also have one or two locations in more rural locations that limit the networking choices offered by the carriers. The OBJ Group networking experts deal with this situation every day – we know the carriers that serve both metro areas and rural areas and leverage those carriers to find the one (or more than one) that offer the best service for your business locations.

3. Designing voice networking solutions that are cost effective and technology effective. Putting together the best network for your business requires analysis of not only the technology available at each site, but the cost to bring that technology to the site. MPLS is a terrific voice networking platform, however it is usually not the most cost effective network transport for locations that are located in the same city. MPLS can also be costly in more rural areas, however it can be combined into an Integrated T1 and provide local lines for the location along with MPLS connectivity for voice networking. Having a networking expert that knows the pricing, knows what carriers are available, and knows how to combine services in a cost effective manner can save 10 to 50 percent in total networking cost.

4. The other gottcha’s. Having a reliable and stable voice network is all about two things – latency and jitter. Latency in IP Telephony is what causes a delay in hearing what the person on the other end said – kind of like talking to someone in outer space. In certain voice networking designs latency is a critical factor in making sure the network recommend functions at the expected levels. Our networking experts know how to design networks that account for things like latency so your network will have the reliability and functionality you require.

While it would be nice to say that MPLS, or Ethernet, or Private Line, etc. is always the best platform for integrated voice networks the reality is each business is unique. The telephone systems involved, the physical locations and number of employees at each location, the services that the carriers offer in each area, and of course the costs involved. While some networks we design utilize a single technology (such as MPLS) – most networks we design utilize multiple technologies to leverage what is available from the carriers and what is cost efficient.
