Business Lines  

Qwest Business Line service provides businesses with a necessary connection to the outside world through dial tone, as well as a White and Yellow Pages directory listing and a Directory Assistance listing.

Qwest Choice Business  

Overview
Qwest new Choice packages have a simple, easy-to-understand structure with aggressive pricing on existing Qwest products and services. These new packages help make communication decisions simple, easy and cost effective for your business. Qwest Choice packages are flexible and customizable based on your needs and time frame.

Qwest Choice Business, Qwest Choice Business Plus, and Qwest Choice Business Add-A-Line offer a valuable comprehensive local service package.

Qwest Choice Business
Qwest Choice Business is a package that includes a flat business line and a selection of features from which you may choose three free features. Additional features may be chosen and billed at the tariff rate. If more than three features are chosen the system will pick the three highest rated features as the free features. See below for more information on available features.

Qwest Choice Business Plus
Qwest Choice Business Plus is a package that includes a flat business line and a selection of features from which the customer may choose any or all at no additional charge. (All features are included at no additional cost.)

  • The Directory Assistance Call Allowance will be added automatically when the Choice Business Plus package is selected at no additional charge with this package.
  • Last Call Return & 3-Way Calling will also be added with this package unless there is a corresponding Pay Per Use (PPU) Blocking USOC on the same telephone number. This is to avoid over billing of PPU charges when these features are offered at no additional charge with this package.
  • Unistar (wire maintenance protection) is an automatic feature that will be included in the Choice Business Plus package at no additional charge with this package.

Qwest Choice Business Add-A-Line
Add-A-Line Package gives your business the option of adding additional lines to the above packages.

Each package can have up to two Add-A-Line packages Add-A-Line Package includes a line and one of the following features at no charge.

  • Series Hunting (HTG/HSO)
  • Call Forwarding Busy (FBJ)
  • Call Forwarding Don't Answer (FDJ)
  • Call Forwarding Busy/Don't Answer (FVJ)
  • Additional compatible features may be chosen and billed at the tariff rate.

Availability

  • Qwest Choice packages cannot be on the same line with other packages
  • Line may be either loop or ground start.

Anonymous Call Rejection

  • Allows a Caller ID Subscriber to reject incoming calls marked "private" or "anonymous".
  • Line must also have Caller ID or Last Call Return to function.
  • If a package line has Caller ID or Last Call Return and it is technically compatible, this feature will be added at no charge.
  • Cannot be added as a standalone feature.

Voice Mail

  • Package includes standalone Voice Mail (MBB or MBBXA) at no charge.
  • Voice Mail box needs selections from the following features to work: Call Forwarding, Message Waiting Indicator, and Easy Access . These can be included at no charge and will not count toward the free package features.
  • If you choose to purchase Voice Mail from a company other than Qwest, ONA (Open Network Architect) elements, e.g., Call Forwarding, Message Waiting Indicator, and Easy Access, can be included at no additional charge and will not count as a "selected" feature.
  • The use of routers, pseudo and DID mailboxes are not part of the package.

Directory Assistance (DA) Call Allowance
DA Call Allowance is a feature unique to Qwest Choice Business packages, providing the customer with six Directory Assistance calls dialed through 411 at no charge, not NPA 555-1212.

  • The six free DA calls are in addition to DA calls currently provided at no charge (per tariff) in some states and will apply to the more expensive DA calls, then to the least expensive.
  • Each line provisioned with the DA Call Allowance feature will allow six DA calls, at no charge. Four lines with DA Call Allowance on the same account would add a 24 DA call allowance to the account.
  • The six calls included in the DA 6 Call Allowance are not shown on the Qwest bill. Only calls made over and above the six free calls will display on the bill.
  • Calls to DA over the six allowable will continue to be summary billed just as they are today.

Converting from other Packages/Products
There is no charge to convert from Custom Choice for Business (CCFB), Qwest Business Line Plus (QBLP), or Centrex 21.

  • No conversion charges or nonrecurring charges are applicable unless additional lines are added at the same time.

Centrex  

Qwest has discontinued all of the Centrex products. If you are currently under a Centrex contract the rates are protected until the end of the contract. If you need to make changes to your lines the Centrex pricing may be in jeopardy.

We offer several alternatives to Centrex, including Qwest Choice Business (see above), Qwest is also offering a Voice Over IP product called One Flex is some markets as an alternative to Centrex.

Digital Switched Service - ISDN PRI/BRI T1/DS1/DS3  

Digital Switched Service (DSS) provides a DS1 facility between your PBX and the central office. This gives you 24 voice-grade channels and frees up space in your PBX.

Benefits:

  • Cost efficient. Helps reduce costs by providing greater trunking efficiency.
  • Reliability. Improve dependability of dial-up data transmissions through the quality of digital transmission.
  • Growth. Consolidate trunks onto a T1 interface to allow for expansion within the PBX. You may not need to add shelves to the system.
  • Timing. Precision timing for call accounting software.
  • Precision. Improved ability to do precise internal toll billing.
  • High quality signal. Improved voice and data transmission with DSS. Consistently better quality transmission than regular analog.

Primary Rate-ISDN
PRI uses 23 channels on a T-1 for switched services. It has a D channel for out of band signaling, which DSS does not.

Analog Trunks
Each use a cable pair at your premise for connectivity. DSS uses 2 cable pairs and mixes the DS1 into 24 channels, providing a 56k channel for each of the 24 voice channels.
